This morning, Thursday 14th September, we gathered as a School and Parish Family for our Start of Academic Year Mass. Our thanks to Father O'Shea and all the many parents and carers who joined us in church today. It was a truly beautiful gathering. Father O'Shea taught us in his Homily about how the Cross of Our Lord was discovered by St Helen and how blessed we are, as a Parish, to have our own small Relic of the True Cross. Later, Bethany and Josh (Y6) were the two lucky children chosen to have their picture with the Relic. There was a moment, during the Mass, for all children to pray before this special Relic.
St Patrick, Apostle of Ireland and Patron of our School, pray for us!
This morning, we celebrated our End of Academic Year Mass of Thanksgiving and Year 6 Leavers' Celebration in Church. The Year 6 Children delivered the Readings and Reflections and took part in the Procession of Gifts (both at the start of the Mass and during the Offertory). After the Opening Hymn, the children brought forward various items that reflected their time here at St Patricks and their God-given gifts and talents. Father O'Shea later blessed Rosaries and Prayer Cards for the children, which are a leaving gift from the Parish. Father also praised the behaviour and engagement of all the children during the Mass. Thank you to all the parents, carers and families who joined us for this beautiful celebration of the Eucharist.
Today, during their Class Mass, Year 5 were privileged to experience two special events; both connected with Father O'Shea's Homily. The first was the opportunity to explore the beautiful carvings that adorn the altar in St Patrick's Church. Father O'Shea taught us what each figure represented and the children had time after Mass to go up and explore these ourselves. In his Homily, Father O'Shea also taught us about how, if we use them to do good and to glorify God, items can be blessed. Everyone - including the staff - was enthralled as we witnessed Father O'Shea bless a parishioner's car after the Mass. We also received our own special Blessing from Father too.
Today, Thursday 6th July, following their Class Mass in Church, a group of Year 5 Pupils stayed behind to assist with the Community Coffee Morning in the Lappin Room. Children enjoyed serving parishioners and chatting with them. They even got to enjoy some toast and a drink themselves! Please check both the School and Church Newsletters for dates of future Coffee Mornings.
This morning, Stay and Pray Prayer and Worship was held by Reception. The Theme was 'God Loves Us'. Thank you to the parents, carers, family members and parishioners who joined us.
On Monday 26th June, Year 5 visited our local feeder High School, St John Fisher, for a Transition Day. The children enjoyed experiencing a day in the life of a High School Student and participated in a range of fun activities in the following lessons: Art, Maths, PE and Science. We also enjoyed time in the Canteen and in the O'Brien Hall. It was lovely to have a number of former pupils support us on this day. St John Fisher's staff praised how well our children listened and behaved throughout the experience.
This morning, Stay and Pray Prayer and Worship was held by Year 1. The Theme was 'I love you, You are mine'. Thank you to the parents, carers, family members and parishioners who joined us.
Congratulations to the Year 6 children who participated in this year’s Faith in Action Award. Three of the eight children were present to receive their Certificates and Award from Bishop John Rawsthorne last Wednesday, 21st June. School staff collected the Awards on behalf of the other participants. Thank you to Mr Marshall, Mrs Tennant and Miss Goulding for supporting the children in the Award.
