  • Year 1's Walk Around the Local Area

Wed 22 Sep 2021 Miss Meakin & Miss Rowley

Last week, Year 1 enjoyed taking a walk around our local area as part of our Cross-Curricular topic "Home Is Where the Heart Is".

The children enjoyed looking at different places in our community including St Patrick's Church, the precinct, Sunshine House, shops, Saint Patrick's Rugby Club, and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

We also identified a variety of different types of houses including terraced, semi-detached, detached, flats and bungalows.

  • This is Me! 😊🎨

This week in Reception we have painted our own self-portraits. Before we started to paint we talked about how everyone is different and that we all look different. We then looked at ourselves in mirrors and talked about our features. We talked about the shapes we could see on our faces and the colours of our eyes and hair. Once we had talked about the different features we could see, we painted our self portraits. We had so much fun painting and we have created fantastic work! πŸ˜Š

  • Starting Nursery! πŸ€©πŸŽ¨πŸ–Œ

Thu 02 Sep 2021 Mrs Docherty

This week all of the children have settled very well into Nursery and have been superstars! They have been learning all about our Nursery rules and routines, where our toys are and how to tidy them away. We have also been learning each others names and learning that we are all different.

The children have been learning about themselves and they have painted a self-portrait focusing on the features of their faces. They have used mirrors to look at their faces and then talked about the different things they could see. They have worked extremely hard to paint their facial features and use the correct the colours. Well done Nursery children! πŸ€©πŸŽ¨πŸ–Œ
