  • YRH - Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch us we're the gingerbread men!

Fri 30 Nov 2018 Miss Hutson

This week, alongside practising for the Christmas performance, Reception have engaged in learning and play centred around the traditional tale of 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children have enjoyed role playing the tale, labelling their favourite characters from the story and learning how to make a number sentence.

I am also excited to share images of the children's 'Gingerbread Man' influenced creations; including paintings and collages, accompanied by images taken of the children accessing provision.

Amazing work Reception! I am very proud of you all.

  • Perimeter Detectives!

Tue 27 Nov 2018 Mr Marshall & Miss Meakin
In our Maths lesson today, Year 4 continued to develop their understanding of perimeter and measure.  We participated in a short scavenger hunt where we found lots of rectangular and square objects to measure.  We recorded these in small groups and used large metre rulers for accuracy.
  • Year 4's Day in Court

Tue 27 Nov 2018 Mr Marshall & Miss Meakin

Today, the Year 4 children built on their learning around our current book 'The Incredible Book Eating Boy' by Oliver Jeffers.  The children were invited to Saint Patrick's Court Room to discuss and debate their arguments for and against the proposed question:

    Should Henry stop eating books?

The children enjoyed participating in a balanced argument and linking their ideas and reasons with evidence from our class story.

  • Year 1 Multi-Skills Festival

    Thu 22 Nov 2018 Year 1

This Monday some of children from Year 1 went to a Multi-Skills Festival at Robin Park Arena with Mr Birchall. All the children really enjoyed participating in many different activities and could not wait to tell Mr Leonard and Miss Hewitt about how much fun they had when they returned to school. Well done to all the children who attended as they behaved excellently throughout the day!

  • Mock Baptism

    Thu 22 Nov 2018 Year 1

Last week we had a special visitor come into school as Father O’Shea came in to deliver a mock baptism to help us celebrate our recent R.E topic about baptism. Baby Jessica (the doll) was baptised in front of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

    Thank you Father O’Shea!

  • Wet but wonderful fieldwork!

    Wed 07 Nov 2018 Year 4

Recently, Year 4 have completed some fieldwork at the canal area to support their topic of ‘localities’. At the location, the children identified and took photographs of physical and human features, whilst also examining habitats and suitability. Upon returning to school, the children built on their learning by creating a map of the area and supported this with an appropriate key. Even though the weather turned against us, we had great fun and produced some excellent work.
