    Thu 27 Jun 2013
St. Patrick's School council would like to say a huge thank-you to all the children, parents, staff and friends of the school who have helped to collect plastic bottle tops. We have recently had news to say that we no longer need to collect them.

Thank you again for your support.

  • More silver medals for Saint Patrick's.

    Wed 19 Jun 2013

This afternoon eleven Year 6 children returned from the West Wigan rounders competition as runners up.  It was a round robin competition involving 6 teams.  The children won four out of their six games and ended second in the league.

It was a lovely afternoon and the children represented the school very well.  They managed to bring home Saint Patrick's second set of silver medals this term.

Well done Year 6.  Your going to be a hard act to follow next year!

Thank you to all staff who supported the children in this event.

  • Y23 Chester Zoo Trip.

    Mon 17 Jun 2013
Last week Middle Years went to Chester Zoo as part of the topic 'Amazing Creations'.  It was a fantastic day out with plenty of sunshine.

The feedback from the children is that they had a brilliant time and were excited to see some of the animals from the different environments we have been learning about during our Cross Curricular topic.  Already this trip is enhancing the children's learning in the classroom.

All staff on the trip were impressed with the children's behaviour, knowledge throughout the day and the fantastic packed lunches . . . thanks parents!
  • STAR DOME

    Fri 07 Jun 2013
Today the children of St. Patricks were lucky enough to visit the 'star dome'...Victor, Reece and Zac (Y5) had this to say:

"We learnt lots of new things about science. The star dome is a dark space that looks like you are in space. We were taught stories about the stars and quizzed about the moon and the sun (we were really good at the answers). Did you know that there are 365 and a quarter days in a year? It was really fun. Is it coming back again next year?"

We were unable to take photographs inside the dome but we have added some photographs of the outside.
  • Silver medals for girls cricket team!

    Thu 06 Jun 2013
Eight Year 5 and 6 girls took part in Wigan Schools Girls Cricket tournament today.  It was a lovely day which was topped off by the children winning their league and securing a place in the final.

In the final the children lost to a very good St James side. Our girls played brilliantly throughout the tournament and have done Saint Patrick's proud returning to school as runners up!

Well done to all the children involved and thank you to parents, and Staff, who supported us in this competition.
