Writing

  • The children who attend the Support Suite are given the opportunity to learn in a smaller group, in a quieter setting.
  • Precision Teaching targets children's individual spelling needs, providing further opportunities to plug gaps in spellings previously taught, along with a focus on current year group spellings or individualised spelling targets.
  • Teaching and learning is planned to support a wider-range of needs, often across different year groups or Key Stages. 
  • When children are making smaller-steps of progress in their writing attainment, a differentiated monitoring system is used, to track, value and celebrate all progress.

  • Teaching has a strong focus on phonics application, where writing is scrutinised in order to provide appropriate phonic support.
