At Saint Patrick's, we use Focus English to support the delivery of our writing lessons. Focus English is a literature-based English curriculum. Our writing curriculum is based on the use of high-quality texts which provide the driver for our writing units. The texts in which we study vary from classic to current authors and help to ensure that we experience a wide and rich English curriculum.
Throughout our 6 week topics we are exposed to many writing opportunities which include working with vocabulary and sentences as well as responding to the text so that we have many opportunities to practise and consolidate writing skills. In addition to our daily grammar slots, we ensure that grammar at Saint Patrick's is taught purposefully and in context so that is can be used in identified outcomes.
