Writing

In Y3, we aim to continue to develop the children’s writing skills, so that they can:

Write with confidence and fluency
Use spelling, punctuation and grammar, appropriate to their age group, accurately and confidently
Develop the range of vocabulary that they are able to use across different writing genres
Develop their skills to use a legible, cursive handwriting style.

At Saint Patrick’s we use the 'Focus English Writing Scheme' to plan our lessons and the 'Letter-Join Scheme for our handwriting'. Throughout the year, we will be focusing on the following books to support our writing lessons:

Autumn 1 – Greek Myths

Autumn 2 – Stone Age Boy

Spring 1 – The Firework Maker’s Daughter

Spring 2 – Orion in the Dark

Summer 1 – The Flower

Summer 2 – Alice in Wonderland
