Writing

At Saint Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, we use the Focus English Writing Scheme to support our coverage of the National Curriculum’s statutory objectives. To support our handwriting, we use the Letter-join scheme. Each half term, we use a different book as our Focus text and from these we practise a range of literary skills and styles.

Our Focus Texts this year are:

Autumn 1: Leon and the Place Between;

Autumn 2: Lady of Shallot;

Spring 1: Beowulf;

Spring 2: Journey to Jo’Burg;

Summer 1: The Man who walked between The Towers;

Summer 2: The Nowhere Emporium.

Autumn 1: Leon and the Place Between

In this topic, we produced character descriptions, an information text about Space and practised punctuating direct speech.

Our Published Piece for this topic was a diary extract in the role of the main character, Leon.
