On Thursday 9th January, we gathered in Church to say 'Thank You and Goodbye' to Father O'Shea. Our Catholic Life Ambassadors created a speech that Patrick, in Year 6, read at the Mass. The text is shared below.
Thank you, Father O'Shea and God bless you.
FR O'SHEA'S FAREWELL MASS SPEECH
Today is a sad day for us here at Saint Patricks, as we say goodbye to Father O’Shea. He has been our Parish Priest for the last seven years and we will miss him very much.
Father O’Shea: we want to say thank you. Thank you for teaching us more about our Catholic Faith and for helping us to become better followers of Christ. Thank you for all the times that you have come in to school to help us and for always making us feel so welcome here in Church.
Thank you for always encouraging us and for listening to us when we needed you. Thank you for always supporting our school. We think you are one of the best Parish Priests we have ever had.
A few weeks ago, we set Father Hugh a challenge to find out your favourite hymn so we could learn it with Mrs Rigbye. We would now like to sing to you: ‘Holy Light on Earth’s Horizon’.
To show our thanks to you, on behalf of everybody at Saint Patrick’s Primary School, we would like to present you with cards made by all the year groups in school and a hamper full of your two favourite things: cheese and red wine.
And finally, to thank Father O’Shea, we give him a round of applause.
