Here at St. Patrick's our Reception children are taught under the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Our practitioners use the Development Matters framework to support their daily observation, assessment and planning for and of the early learning of our children. Children are taught through games and play and also have focused sessions to secure their learning in specific areas such as Literacy and Mathematics.

Our Curriculum is taught over three terms:

As a school we understand the importance of keeping our children engaged in what they are learning and in Reception this is achieved through the introduction of a new theme each week and by following our children's interests. We strive to promote and encourage children's confidence and independence and enjoy seeing our children happily taking risks as they learn and often succeed in the challenges set out for them during focused activities and within continuous provision.
