Art - Pointillism

Pointillism

During this topic, the children learnt about when the Pointillist movement began and explored paintings by the artist Georges Seurat. They explored some of the different methods they could use to create a Pointillist effect in their own artwork, as well as learning about primary, secondary and tertiary colours in the colour wheel and exploring how to mix colours using paint and then use these for their Pointillism design. They explored how Seurat used Pointillism to create shading and were challenged to practise their own shading skills. Finally, they used the skills they had learnt to create their own Pointillism piece of artwork in the form of a self portrait. Their final piece is displayed in year group bays.
