What is the FAST 30 challenge?

The FAST 30 wristband challenge is aimed at encouraging children to be physically active outside of school for at least 30 minutes a day. This physical activity must be moderate/vigorous physical activity.

To achieve their wristbands, children must complete the set amount of hours required to obtain that wristband. This is allocated by the following:

  • Bronze Wristband = Children must complete 10 full hours of moderate/vigorous physical activity.
  • Silver Wristband = Children must complete an additional 15 hours of moderate/vigorous physical activity.
  • Gold Wristband = Children must complete an additional 20 hours of moderate/vigorous physical activity.

So if a child has achieved all three wristbands they will have completed a total of 45 hours of moderate/vigorous physical activity outside of school!

Children are encouraged to be honest and obtain a signature from their parent's/coach/carer's. Each signature should represent one full hour of moderate/vigorous physical activity, this can even be broken up into 2 x 30 minute sessions or 4 x 15 minute sessions.

Finally remember to record what activity you/your child has been doing to keep your teachers informed!

GOOD LUCK!

Mr Lowe, Y5 Teacher and PE Lead.
