Computing Curriculum Overview 2016-2017

An overview of the discrete Computing teaching and learning skills taught across the school.

Topic 1 In Nursery the children will be exploring the computers so that they can access all the relevant programmes available to their age and stage of development. In Reception the children will be developing their creative skills to use the programme 2 Simple Paint to paint pictures of their local area and our school.   In Year 1 the children will be developing their communication skills in order to research our school and our local area.   
 

In Year 2 the children will be developing their data retrieving and organisiation skills in order to research a famous person from our local area.  The children will use Kidrex to research George Formby. 

In Year 3 the children will be developing their programming skills in order to write a simple computer programme and test it. The children will use Scratch for this topic.

In Year 4 the children will be working on Algorithms and Programs in order to write a program. The children will use Scratch for this topic. In Year 5 the children will continue to develop their programming skills using the software Scratch. The children will write thir own programme and test it.  In Year 6 the children will continue to develop their algorithms and programming skills in order to plan and create their own computer/ipad applications (Apple aps).
